Completed 'the Manual for the Establishment of Kindergarten and Pre-K School'
Promise Ministry, as an arm of Promise Church (formerly known as the Full Gospel New York Church), has concentrated on establishing schools in Latin America (Honduras, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Cost Rica, and Guatemala), and Africa (Kenya and Tanzania). There is always a need for established guide lines to help local leaders in their initiative to establish contextualized educational systems in their own countries, and thus the design of the "Manual for Establishing Kindergarten and Pre-K Schools" came to be. It is a simple 50-page booklet explaining the basic principles of establishing schools. Three different case studies, Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines, are cited in order to introduce the concept that contextualized schools depend upon the availability of resources and levels of instruction. This helpful booklet will be a good resource in establishing educational institutions in every country. Indonesian Church for World Mission:
Indonesia is the largest Muslim nation in the world with 87% (more than 200 million people) of the nation as registered followers. Many of these people immigrate to the United States and are quite open to other religions. While living in Indonesia their society, family members, and friends will not support them in converting to Christianity, but upon immigrating to the USA they have freedom from their Muslim faith-sensitive environment.
Mission-minded Indonesian churches in America are ready to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. More than 30 Indonesian churches in the New York area, and more than 70 churches in Los Angeles are united to demonstrate and challenge Indonesians this summer through mission awareness meetings hosted by the Promise Church in New York and Grace Church in Orange County, California (see June Event at Glance for detail).

Bahasa is No More Only a Muslim Language
The national language of Malaysia known as "Bahasa" is a medium of instruction in Malaysian public schools. However, the Malaysia government once considered this language as the Muslim language and banned its use for Christian communication. Now the door is opened for the use of Bahasa in Christian groups. SAM (Sekolah Alkitab Malam) is the first school to use Bahasa as the language medium to train young people in theology. Dr. Eun Moo Lee recently visited Malaysia and was invited to offer a course using Bahasa to 53 students who attended(photo). We believe that God will use these students to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their own Bahasa language in the coming days.

Case Study – Paraguay Christian Art School
Motive of Establishment
Among 23 nations of South America, Paraguay’s economy, education and living standard is 23rd. Only 70% of children go to school, and among them, only 40% graduate high school and 2% of them graduate university, according to the statistic of Department of Education(1994). According to UNESCO’s statistic in 1999, elementary school’s standard class hour is about 1170 hours per a year. Planned class hour in Paraguay in 1999 was 777 hours and actual class hour was 666 hours (Christian Art School’s planned class hour was 1230 hours).
Not only the level of education is very low, but there is also language barrier. Español is the official language, but in the areas beyond city limits or people with 30 years old and over only speak Guarani which is a native language in Paraguay. It is difficult for a missionary to master two languages at the same time, and I was praying and searching for a way to overcome this language barrier. And “the school” was the answer.
Purpose of Establishment
First of all, it is to glorify God by spreading the Gospel. Second, Raising up future leaders of this nation; disciple them and spread the Gospel to every corners of this nation. And last, but not least, to witness the image of God to neighbors with thorough training and Christian education.
Objective of Establishment
Motto: Image of God to Mankind Plans for establishing kindergarten to university were already accepted by the government. And currently, we are teaching up to high school with biblical perspectives and high standard. Experts commonly agree on the fact that 80% of personality is formed when a child reaches 7 years old. Our plan is to educate children from pre-kindergarten and kindergarten with thorough Christian disciplines; establish 40 high schools on each regions of the country, and select an elite student from each school who is intelligent and strong in faith, bring them together to live together and, to get special trainings and university education according each students’ interest; some to be pastors and missionaries, others as professional lay workers. And send these 40 professionals each year to every parts of Paraguay to build churches and kindergarten, and to spread the Gospel.
For this, there are worship services altogether on Monday and Thursday every week, two Bible studies every week. And teachers meet everyday at 7am for quiet time and prayer. Each class starts and ends with prayer. Also there is annual retreat for two or three days of spiritual disciplines. The Kingdom of God will be beautifully revealed through their lives.
